Brief info

Peter Arama is a trained agriculturalist specializing in crop protection. He currently serves as head of department of agricultural economics and agribusiness at Rongo University, as well as a management board member of Nyaranga Sub-County Hospital in Migori County. He has worked for the Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock Development and Extension-Research as a liaison officer, the Kenya Agricultural Research Institute (KARI) (presently KALRO) as a research scientist, the Research Institute for Plant Protection (IPO) (Wageningen, The Netherlands) as a visiting scientist, the International Center for Insect Physiology and Ecology (ICIPE-Duduville, Nairobi) as a research fellow and Maseno University as a lecturer.

Peter is keenly interested in the empowerment of women economically through advances in crops production, value addition, and training in entrepreneurship skills. He has mentored many students pursuing their undergraduate and graduate studies in the natural sciences, and his family is paying fees for two orphaned girls—one in secondary school and another at Rongo University—to pursue their studies.
